Our overhead sliding beam cranes are designed to lift equipment such as tenders, rescue boats, life rafts, jet skis, submarines and cars safely and easily in and out of the superyacht. Cramm’s range of overhead cranes includes various types from single-sided and parallel set-up to outward telescopic.

We have also developed a special type of sliding beam crane for lowering items into the water to port and starboard. The development of special profiles for all our sliding beam cranes ensures that every crane has a minimum height, a key benefit compared with many other sliding beam cranes on the market.

Single or Parallel

Cramm sliding beam cranes can be installed in a single or parallel set-up. By installing two sliding beam cranes in parallel even heavier objects, such as a tender, can be hoisted out of the yacht’s garage. Our modular single sliding beam cranes are delivered in different categories but can lift between 2 and 15 tonnes per beam; in parallel, a total of 30 tonnes per set-up. When a greater tonnage is required, Cramm can design and develop a fully customised solution for your specific situation.

Design

With our sliding beam cranes beautifully concealed in the ceiling, our yacht equipment is almost invisible when walking around the vessel. To increase the overhead sliding beam crane’s service life and give it a perfect high-gloss finish, the sliding beam cranes can be faired and painted with the same quality paint as the yacht. All Cramm sliding beam cranes can be electric or hydraulically driven and meet all design standards to fit perfectly in every superyacht. The cranes are also provided with certification from Lloyds Register of Shipping (ISO, LY2, LY3 and SOLAS).

Movable Lorry

For extra flexibility, a movable lorry can be installed to move equipment such as tenders and jet skis around more easily. As well as extra flexibility, the lorry provides the sliding beam crane with a higher reach. This enables the tender or other equipment to be stored further into the garage, freeing up space for more equipment if required.

Movable gantries are manufactured from stainless steel for a long and durable service life. The gantries can lift up to 6 tonnes per unit (12 tonnes in a parallel set-up) or when a higher tonnage is required, a fully customised version.

Double Hook System

A double hook system for sliding beam cranes has been developed specifically to achieve stable and secure handling of tenders in and out of the garage. Two hooks located on a single beam prevent tenders from tilting during the hoist, even with an uneven weight distribution. A double hook system can also be fitted to a parallel set-up.

For extra flexibility, the double hook system can be fitted to a rotating front beam. This system has been developed especially for a single beam set-up to ensure secure handling of tenders in and out of the garage. This creates a very safe situation for the crew, as the tender is turned in the handling area. The front of the beam can be controlled using the overhead crane remote control so no additional lines are required for correct positioning of the tender.

All Applications

We make our overhead sliding beam cranes for rescue boats, liferafts, MOB and for cargo applications. Our overhead cranes can be remote controlled at two speeds or proportionally. Rescue sliding beam cranes are always equipped with cable controls, while cargo cranes have the option of radio controls. Rescue cranes are provided with certification from Lloyds Register of Shipping, Bureau Veritas and a DAD certificate.

All overhead cranes are also designed in accordance with Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment (LAME) regulations, but can also be built according to any required certification of a specific Notified Body.
