Opening up the side of the yacht offers a huge amount of additional possibilities to the yacht, such as tender storage, beach clubs and others. Cramm doors are highly reliable even under the toughest sea conditions. The design of the yacht door is based on a 3D model of the client’s yacht, and custom-made in aluminium, steel or stainless steel to enable differing shapes, sizes and weights.

The main difference between a door and a hatch is that a door is located vertically while a hatch is located horizontally. The outside of the doors follows the shape of the hull, while the inside is level and straight. The doors can be electric or hydraulically driven and opened horizontally or vertically to give maximum flexibility.

Hinge or sliding system

Cramm yachting systems’ doors and hatches can be installed vertically or horizontally, offering every freedom in selecting the location of the door. As well as the installation method, Cramm can also provide a sliding system to offer a different opening method for hatches on the yacht. Depending on the size, structure, purpose and the location of the door, yacht doors located on the side of the vessel can open upwards or sideways. Multipurpose

Instead of having a standard yacht door or hatch with the sole purpose of opening and closing, Cramm can install a wide range of extra features such as windows, portholes, teak, stanchions and railings in accordance with the client’s wishes, giving the door and hatch more possibilities.

For example, a horizontal hatch can have teak fitted to the top of the hatch so the hatch can also serve as a sun terrace. This means that no deck space is lost and the hatch fits perfectly into the design of the yacht.

Design

Once the purpose of the door is known, Cramm will use a 3D model to design and engineer your door down to the smallest details. This ensures that the design of the door fits perfectly into the yacht and bulwark. With our yacht doors and platforms beautifully hidden in the yacht’s bulwark, our yacht equipment is almost invisible when walking around the vessel.

All Cramm yacht equipment satisfies all design standards providing a perfect match for every superyacht and can be provided with certification from any demanded Notified Body (ISO, LY2, LY3 and SOLAS).

Door locking mechanism

Once the door or hatch is locked using precisely located stainless steel pins, the yacht door or hatch will not move even in the toughest sea conditions. The locking pin mechanism ensures that the hydraulic system does not put unnecessary pressure on the cylinders, which further expands the product’s service life.

As well as the integrated locking mechanisms, all doors can be operated manually for safety reasons.
